Featured Geocacher of the Month Nominees – Add Your Comments

September's Featured Geocacher of the Month, SuperGoober

Last month the geocaching community voted SuperGoober as the September Featured Geocacher of the Month. According to those who nominated him, “he is a model geocacher which all of us in the area and beyond can be proud of. He is always willing to lend advice/help to any cacher that approaches him or contacts him.”

The featured Geocacher of the Month recognition celebrates geocachers for their contributions to the activity.  A panel of Lackeys had the difficult task of selecting three of the most outstanding nominees. Now it’s your turn to help name one of these nominees the featured October “Geocacher of the Month.”

seping

Nomination by Ceddy:

“seping is a very active geocacher, he lives in Catalonia / Spain, in his native [country] many geocachers know him! He has found more than 18,000 caches all over the world and has over 240 caches hidden!
seping also already has organized two Mega-Events, including the recent Mega Catlunya 2011, and brought together geocachers from around the world. I met seping. He’s a very friendly and helpful man, and I think that’s he’s seen similarly by many other people.”

Coast2coast2coast + Zoe

Nomination by adventureseeking3:

“They have hosted multiple events, hidden excellent caches, all at various levels of difficulty, and are always aiding fellow cachers when in need. Tom currently serves in the Canadian armed forces so not only is he promoting geocaching here in BC, Canada, but he is also contributing world wide. They head up a local organization, Mid Island Geocaching that just recently had a summer end event “The Geo-Poker Rally” which was held in conjunction with Our local BCGA year end Blitz. Even though he is currently overseas on a mission supporting world peace, he is still staying in contact and helping people back home who geocache. They are both very dedicated and very well respected in the community.”

bpp_picnic

Nomination by Mrs.Hoagie:

“Around Chester County PA, caches by bpp_picnic are notorious for their unique locations and even more interesting camouflage.  bpp_picnic hosts a great event at the Brandywine Picnic Park (his family’s place) every September, and though his park, Big Red (his truck), and the event were flooded out this year by all the rain in SE Pennsylvania, bpp_picnic was still gracious enough to feed those of us who showed up with his amazing bbq pork and brisket.”

  1. I’m a brand new Geocacher as of two weeks ago and am amazed by the dedication. I’m impressed by all the nominees who have worked so hard to earn this honor. My choice is Coast2coast2coast+Zoe.

  2.  I want to support Ceddy´s nomination of Seping. He is a Geocacher with heart and soul. He motivated lots of local Geocachers to  prepare, organise and work hard for the second spanish Mega Event which was really a success. Geocachers of many european countrys came together, tasted spanish food, dance together at the flashmob, exchanged stories and made new friends.

  3. We did not taste the food, we did not dance, but the event was really really good for us too. So its a success for EVERYONE. Seping for GCOTM. Thanks Team 248907

  4. Bpp_picnic has my vote.  Any new geocacher in the Delaware Valley quickly learns of the contributions that Mr. Picnic brings to the community.  Even though I have not had the pleasure of meeting him personally, his picnics and hides have become famous!!

  5. My vote is for bpp_picnic. Great caches are the best to come by and anyone that is willing to open their homes to fellow cachers in rough times has to be a great person. 🙂

  6. bpp-picnic gets my vote. He has a lot of great hides and his September event is always good fun!

  7. Coast2Coast2Coast+Zoe gets my vote.  They have contributed so much to geocaching on Vancouver Island.

  8. My vote would also go to Seping, a man with immense energy, that still takes the time to talk to everyone even though he is in the middle of hosting a Mega Event that is imressive!

  9. Coast2coast2coast has my vote. He does a lot for the caching community and is a big part in promoting great geocaching.

  10. seping has my vote.

I meet him last september when i was in Barcelona on holidays and i attended the Geotrobata BCN Setembre event.
As the nomination says, he’s a very friendly and helpful man. We spoke, in italian, quite a lot during that event and before i went in Barcelona he gave me a good hint to solve one of his mega mysteries.

  11. Welcome home TTF. Your dedication to the geocaching community is unparalleled and if not for you and your family I wouldn’t even know about this whole game in the outdoors and I am postive there a lot of folks out there that can say the same thing. You spread peace worldwide and you help anybody in need. Your events are always fun and exciting. To top it off, you have a tattoo with a TB#. You are what geocaching is and you will always have my vote. Good luck and a huge welcome home.

  14. This is supposed to be a positive award and their career has nothing to do with their dedication to Geocaching. Clearly, the only reason why the forces was brought up was to show that on his off time, he is spreading the good word of this great activity. I appreciate your vote to seping but why not just point out the positives of why that person deserves it rather than insulting another candidate. How do you know what coast2coast2coast’s role in the Canadian Forces is? Maybe his job is a medic, or as support personell for helping those in need, or maybe he just fly’s in a plane that delivers supplies. Either way, this isn’t the place to start a debate about what you believe is good or bad. Just vote for your favourite, whomever that may be, and for positive reasons. Notice everybody else here is doing exactly that. To disrespect a person like you have done clearly isn’t promoting Loveandpeace as your name implies. Notice some key words by the nominator “He is currently over seas on a mission supporting world peace.” maybe that person knows he is doing exactly that but you just assume the name armed forces means anti peace. Let’s keep this huge community real and support it with positivity and vote for your favourite because you believe that person deserves it like all the others who are. Seping is a good choice and so are the other 2 candidates. That’s why Groundspeak has given them this opportunity. I love your log in name but you are totally not backing up what the words stand for. Whomever wins will be by popular vote by all and I am seriously dissapointed to see a candidates name dragged in the mud by your coments and hopefully no candidates are affected by those malicious comments. Don’t forget, you could also effect seping’s chances also as you have started the wrong kind of debate here and that may sway people’s decision’s because of it. Just keep it filled with support for who you believe and back it up with true Loveandpeace. Best of luck to all 3 worthy candidates.

  15. coast2coast2coast gets our vote.  His involvement in the local geocaching community is very much appreciated.  Lots of work put in for a busy man.  Our kids always go looking for him at events.

  16. Your absoloutly right, that i don’t know much about coast2coast’s job. And i don’t want to blame him that he kills civilist’s or anything. But the Canadian Forces do that. So in anyway someone work as a Military, he supports killing humans. Often it is presented as necesarry sacrifice or collateral damage, but its just not more than murder.

  17. I vote for coast2coast2coast. Tom is an ambassador for geocaching. Always helping the new geocacher, putting on multiple events so more people can become involved, very generous with his time. He is a huge asset to the geocaching family and if you haven’t discovered his travel bug yet, better ask him about it when you see him.

  18. Thank you coast2coast2coast and Zoe pup your true dedication to Geo caching shows in everyone that has been blessed by your teachings. Your elder college to elementary school to the little toddlers looking for treasures. Many more excellent teachings about our sport we are glad your military duty is done now is time to relax and get caught up on local caches.

  19. Coast gets my vote… He lives, breaths and preachs geocaching. He is so fun to cache with

  20. Mi voto es para Seping. No hace falta conocerle para saber que es una muy buena persona.Solo espero que algun dia cuincidamos y no conozcamos.
    Un saludo.

  21. Coast2coast2coast gets my vote. He does a great job in the community whether it be geocaching or something else. He once organized a  geocaching flash mob toy drive for the local kids. Great job and I am proud to call you a fellow Canadian!!

  22. Go coast2coast2coast!!! I had a great time at the Canada Day Geocaching Flash Mob. You get my vote!!!

  23. To all that are voting positively, thankyou regardless of who you are voting for. To the one that isn’t, it’s too bad your comments were flagged before I could respond with what I wanted to really say and I will leave it at that because all that matters is a positive voting system. Fair warning though: drag my friend’s name through the mud again and I already know more about you than you would want, so keep it clean and non personal or it won’t go so good for you.
