September's Featured Geocacher of the Month, SuperGoober

Last month the geocaching community voted SuperGoober as the September Featured Geocacher of the Month. According to those who nominated him, “he is a model geocacher which all of us in the area and beyond can be proud of. He is always willing to lend advice/help to any cacher that approaches him or contacts him.”

The featured Geocacher of the Month recognition celebrates geocachers for their contributions to the activity.  A panel of Lackeys had the difficult task of selecting three of the most outstanding nominees. Now it’s your turn to help name one of these nominees the featured October “Geocacher of the Month.”

Nomination by Ceddy:

“seping is a very active geocacher, he lives in Catalonia / Spain, in his native [country] many geocachers know him! He has found more than 18,000 caches all over the world and has over 240 caches hidden!
seping also already has organized two Mega-Events, including the recent Mega Catlunya 2011, and brought together geocachers from around the world. I met seping. He’s a very friendly and helpful man, and I think that’s he’s seen similarly by many other people.”

Coast2coast2coast + Zoe

Nomination by adventureseeking3:

“They have hosted multiple events, hidden excellent caches, all at various levels of difficulty, and are always aiding fellow cachers when in need. Tom currently serves in the Canadian armed forces so not only is he promoting geocaching here in BC, Canada, but he is also contributing world wide. They head up a local organization, Mid Island Geocaching that just recently had a summer end event “The Geo-Poker Rally” which was held in conjunction with Our local BCGA year end Blitz. Even though he is currently overseas on a mission supporting world peace, he is still staying in contact and helping people back home who geocache. They are both very dedicated and very well respected in the community.”

bpp_picnic

Nomination by Mrs.Hoagie:

“Around Chester County PA, caches by bpp_picnic are notorious for their unique locations and even more interesting camouflage.  bpp_picnic hosts a great event at the Brandywine Picnic Park (his family’s place) every September, and though his park, Big Red (his truck), and the event were flooded out this year by all the rain in SE Pennsylvania, bpp_picnic was still gracious enough to feed those of us who showed up with his amazing bbq pork and brisket.”

  1. Bravo for C2C2C!! A gentle man who models what is best about this sport. Qualicum Questers

  2. H, He’s a coward that clearly has no morals and is just like the ring leaders of the riots. He has been flagged. That bonehead sits behind his computer only because the armed forces of the past made it possible for us all to enjoy life as we know it today and the one’s currently continue that honour. Somebody should have hang cuffed this idiot to the top of the twin towers on 9/11 Maybe then he would have seen things differently on the way down. We all know the true Coast2coast and that’s all that matters.

  3. trust me as member of the military community… nobody wants peace more than those in uniform.  And that’s why they will give their lives for it.

  4. Congratulations to all three nominees, your brief profiles certainly illustrate your positive contributions to geocaching, and your indivudual communities are very lucky to have cachers like you!

I do have to vote for C2C2C, though, thru personal experience.  He is such an asset to the Mid Island geocaching community, organizing so many fun activities, even with a job that takes him far from home.

Good luck to all three nominees!

  5. Coast2Coast2Coast+Zoe gets my vote. Forgot to mention he was a member of the exec for the BCGA as well. Great guy to cache with and always a twist to his hides!

  6. The whole point of this award is acknowledge their part in Geocaching, and we should be rewarding them for that.

Ok, now my vote.  I do not know any of these outstanding individuals, however, just from the nomination bios given, I think I would have to support sebring on this one.

I want to personally thank everyone who was nominated for being such great ambassadors of the hobby sport and those who made the nominations.

  7. C2C2C gets my Vote! He always have been so supportive of this sport/obsession….and an all round great guy!

  8. Very well put 2Fidoes and it is so nice to see that their are people like you putting your lives on the line for all of us to have this opportunity to enjoy a great life. Thank you so much for your input regardless of your vote decision. Faith in the whole goecaching community has been restored for me personally after seeing everyone’s shock to the start of this topic.

  9. Now that is the way to end a negative post and restore positivity to the geocaching community, thank you E. That was my reaction at the beginning, why drag a good persons name through the mud for his choice of employment. Eventhough we have voted for different candidates that is what this is all about. Rewarding and celebrating 3 outstanding individuals in the geocaching community. Everybody has a right to vote for who they believe in and it should be based soley for their commitment to this community and nothing else and if you get criticism for that, then those who insult your opinion should be banned from ever using geocaching and Grounspeak again. Thanks for your opinion and may the best candidate win. Happy caching and it would be an honour to meet you on the trails one day and I would be glad to shake your hand.

  10. So nice to see the true geocaching community coming out in force, to once again vote for who they believe in. I was very discouraged there for a while after that one vote but thankfully that garbage has stopped and we once again have a great and positive race going on and all 3 deserve the right for the title. Of course my opinion is towards who I personally believe in, but I wish the best to all. Thanks Groundspeak for shutting down negativity.

  11. Seping deserves to win, by far! Just have a look at his profile, and you understand he is the best, by all he did for Geocaching! I vote for him!

  12. Seping mérite de gagner, vraiment, avec tout ce qu’il a fait pour le Geocaching. Bravo, Seping, tu es le meilleur !

  13. Go C2C2C!!!
WELCOME HOME!! We all know the true Coast2coast and that’s all that matters.  Go C2C2C + Zoe!!! miss you ALL dearly!

  14. Our vote goes to C2C2C, he’s the most dedicated and helpful geocacher we’ve met so far.

  15. Didn’t mention my vote previously. Go coast2coast2coast. For all that you do to making eveyone love geocaching. If not for you, I wouldn’t have ever heard about all of this and meet so many great people. Best of luck.

  16. I vote for coast2coast2coast as he has promoted geocaching widely and contributed to the geocaching community as often as his job would allow. He has been a constant in this ever-changing community of geocachers, willing to share his experience in a fun and positive way. thanks for all you do, Coast.

  17. My vote is for SEPING. He is a great geocacher, he has great initiative and is very active in the game. He has attended many events, it is who has the idea of 2 mega in Catalonia, which have been very successful. Seping is very friendly and very helpful people. For these reasons and more I think should be the geocacher month, he deserves it!

  18. I would like to see Tom (coast2coast2coast + Zoe) as Geocacher of the Month. I met Tom in 1972 when we both started geocaching and he has been an inspiration to me. He was instrumental in the formation of our club and has been a driving force in our geocaching community.

  19. Go C2C2C!!!WELCOME HOME!! We all know the true Coast2coast and that’s all that matters. That says it all.. Good Luck
