What will your geocaching goals be for 2019?
Introducing our featured content partner, Adam from UK Cache Mag. UK Cache Mag is a bi-monthly magazine all about geocaching in the United Kingdom. It is available in print or digital formats and shares stories, tips, and more!
Improve your fitness by finding a few more caches each time you are out, perhaps push yourself to complete some of the longer series, such at the series along the Lllangollen Canal* that were placed for the 2016 Mega.
Meet new friends by either hosting your own event and see who comes along, or by attending one of the many events held across the UK. There are many regional caching groups on Facebook that can help you get to know other local cachers ahead of any events.
You already have geocaching as a hobby, but you could try a new style of cache this year, for example Wherigo’s. Perhaps you are feeling adventurous and will set a goal to find several Extreme caches. You could even learn how to climb trees, to abseil or other kinds of rope work to achieve those caches. You may have to paddle a canoe or even scuba dive!
With the return of Piratemania, and the Mega in Aberdeen a week later, perhaps 2019 is going to be the year that you and your friends or family start camping! Even if you camp on your own at these events, I am certain you will soon meet people that will become lifelong friends.
These days where social media is proving hard to miss, perhaps it is time to set a goal to learn new skills in video or photography, so you can record and share your adventures with other cachers?
Whatever you decide to try and achieve in 2019, make sure that caching is right at the heart of what you do, it can be the start of some amazing adventures! Share your goals below, we would love to know what you are hoping to do. Plus, with geocaching in your life, we really do think you are in for a Happy New Year!
*Note: due to the time of year, some of these caches need maintenance.
