Five ways to keep the spirit of geocaching going

While many of us are still being asked to stay safe by staying home, it’s also important to acknowledge that others are able to go geocaching safely. Regardless of your current environment, what we all have in common is our love for geocaching, and our need to stay local. So, here are five ways to keep the spirit of geocaching going, while keeping it close to home.

  1. Geocaching films for the great indoors! Bring the Geocaching International Film Festival (GIFF) home and watch films to help provide adventure and inspiration. These films will whisk you away, right from your couch.
  2. Bring the outside in. Take up birding from your balcony, or try to see how many plant varieties you can spot on your neighborhood walk. Training your eyes to be more observant is a skill that will serve you well in geocaching too!
  3. Get moving…in your living room. If you’re worried about staying in Geoshape while staying home, fear not! GeoFit: At home edition is all you need to stay in tip-top condition. Then, try these new moves out at some socially distant geocaches!
  4. Live through your future self. Plan a future geocaching adventure with Lists and organize your gear so you’re ready to go. Get the research done now so you can maximize your trip time later.
  5. Stay in touch even while distant. Some of the best parts of geocaching are not even about the geocaches, but the friendships you make along the way. Message Center, Geocaching organizations, and scheduling virtual meet-ups on online platforms are great ways to avoid missed connections.
