Our favorite Geocaches of the Week

You won’t find GOTW in any “normal” dictionary, just like you won’t find TFTC or BYOP. But we geocachers speak our own language of adventure. GOTW is what you need to stay on top of the latest hiding and finding trends and to see the adventurers who are shaping our growing geocaching community. GOTW stands for “Geocache of the Week.”

Every Wednesday the Community Engagement team at Geocaching HQ publishes a new GOTW article, so we asked them what their favorites have been.

Johnny Island’s Throne Room
GC57ZJR
A throne room like no other. A magnetic strip on a credit card is required to enter. Inside, a series of gadgety puzzles need to be solved and a TV with a movie plays to help you unlock the lid to this cache.

Cadillac Ranch Cars
GC4K7Y3
Cadillac Ranch Cars tops my GOTW list because of the colorful artwork at the location where the cache is hidden. Also, if you bring spray paint, you can add to the artwork by writing your geocaching username on one of the cars.

Cathedral Cavern Cache
GC2CQB7
This cache will always be one of my favorites because it takes you to such a breathtaking and otherworldly location…and you will definitely return home with some epic pictures (and maybe wet feet).

Hrebenom Nizkych Tatier
GC7DY00
This cache is not only my favorite that I’ve had the chance to highlight, but is also a geocaching bucket list item of mine. Your endurance and resilience are put to the test for this long Multi-Cache adventure. I love dreaming of new ways to be challenged, so this Geocache of the Week will always be top-tier to me!

Rano Kau – Rapa Nui
GC22ZGB

This EarthCache on Rapa Nui (Easter Island) is one of my all-time favorites, because it takes you to one of the most remote inhabited places in the world. You learn about the volcanic activity that shaped the island and observe a beautiful caldera with its own micro-climate!

Each article inspires quality geocaching and celebrates the global geocaching community so be sure to check back every week to see the latest GOTW! Plus, there are even more ways to stay in touch with geocaching friends from around the world. Follow all the geocaching action through the Official Geocaching Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter pages.
