Cache Hiding Themes—July: outer space

In honor of Cosmic Quest, July’s hiding theme is all about outer space!

Geocachers from around the galaxy stepped up to share their out-of-this-world caches in celebration. These hides are truly stellar and we couldn’t “plan-et” any better if we tried! Take a look at just a few of the submissions we gravitated towards:

  1. GC9GCHA—E.T. rides again

E.T. phone home! Meet this beloved intergalactic friend and pedal him to the cache with this creative hide. You don’t have to travel as many light-years as it would take to get him home, but you do have to pedal fast enough to unlock the cache container!

  2. GCATX4F—CHT2024] Juillet : Espace

What’s better than a rocket hide? A rocket hide right next to an actual rocket! Check out this thematic cache outside of a science museum and imagine blasting off on an astral adventure.

  3. GC9ZWP9—🪝👽EL GAAANCHOOOO!!! 👽🪝

The claaaaaw! The claw chooses who will go and who will stay, but we choose this cache as one of our favorites! Visit everyone’s favorite toy aliens (and maybe some trackables) in this claw-inspired geocache.

  4. GC1DH7G—Area 24 UFO Crash Cache Site 5

This isn’t just a cache, this is a real UFO crash site! See if you can find this visitor and their tiny ship near this desert mesa.

  5. GCAK2JP—Cosmic Eyes

Space isn’t just about stars and aliens, there’s a science to it! This educational Multi-Cache takes visitors through the Nobeyama Radio Observatory where they can see instruments built to observe solar and cosmic radio waves.

  6. GCAPA2K (A Galaxy Far, Far Away) and GCANWNA (A Trip to the Stars ***)

Team Rock Album has a knack for creating guitar-themed Event logbooks. These two caches are no exception, as they looked to the stars for inspiration! Though these Events may have passed, their memory lives forever in these spaceship-themed memorabilia.

  7. GCAVDEP—”We Cache In Peace” – Cosmic Quest

    Images by zumby65.

“We cache in peace! No, really, we just want this bison tube…” This cache owner turned a classic geocache hide into a creative cosmic cache with some paint and miniature aliens. We’d be scared if they just weren’t so adorable!

  8. GC9T9EJ—Un OVNI a Bellvitge!

The news is abuzz with talks of a UFO landing on a building downtown! Complete this Wherigo to get a seat on the UFO and find the final interstellar cache container.

  9. GCAQGAF—Close Encounters of the Cache Kind

“Take us to your geocache.” These extraterrestrial visitors are collecting specimens on Earth to take back to their home planet, and one of them is a geocache! Find the cache container on board their ship and sign the logbook before it blasts off into the galaxy.

  10. GC7QEJJ—Space Invader

This Letterbox Hybrid is really out of this world! Activate the spaceship to reach the logbook and start your caching adventure off with a bang.

These geocaches really shot for the stars!

A big thank you to the cache owners across the universe who have hidden stellar geocaches in their community. You’re all stars!

Don’t forget to log your finds for Cosmic Quest by September 1, 2024. Help our intergalactic friends refuel their spaceship so they can make it to their next cosmic destination!
