SniperChicken

Sniperchicken

Nominated by lacey38655, Scott, a.k.a. SniperChicken, is “the Board President for the Mississippi Geocachers Association. His dedication to geocaching as a whole, not only in Mississippi but nearby states is immeasurable. He will spend countless hours researching locations to give you the best place to go when searching for a cache. If the location is not the best, then you better bet the story line or cache itself will be unique. He owns over 140 geocaches, varying from Traditional Caches, to Multi-Caches, to EarthCaches. He is an active volunteer fire fighter and likes to use his skills from the fire service in extreme caching. Scott is also one of the few people I know who is a dedicated puzzle cacher. One of the greatest things about Scott is how warm he is to everyone he meets, making them feel the love of the sport through his love for the game.”

Geofogies

Geofogies

Nominated by Tzinny, Michael and Lynn, a.k.a. Geofogies “are a great example of what geocaching is all about. Michael and Lynn recently passed 20,000 finds by traveling all over the world. They have found caches on all 7 continents and in 45 countries. In addition to finding caches, they own 73 of them. They also logged over 1,100 trackables. Most importantly, they are great people with interesting stories to share. They regularly attend events and love to go out on casual cache outings where they like to engage in lively conversation about geocaching. They are very encouraging and beginner cachers are always inspired by them.”

akpatty

akpatty

“When Keith and Patty are on the hunt, they never give up. Whether that means wading a stream, climbing a tree, or figuring out a difficult clue,” says RanNat1718, who nominated akpatty for Geocacher of the Month. “They have been caching all over the world; Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Canada, Italy, and the Bahamas to name a few. They are very encouraging of using everyone’s talents in order to solve a clue and they leave no one out.  Even though they love cracking a clue or making the find, they are willing to step aside and let someone else have the glory if it means that person will be excited for caching. It was akpatty who originally introduced us to geocaching and, since then, we’ve used it to explore unusual spots we never would  have found on our own. It’s opened up a whole new way of traveling and exploring where we live.”

According to Team Monkeyboy, “when it comes to bravery and a sense of adventure, one husband and wife team definitely fit the bill; the iphone.cachers  from Galena, Ohio.” Michael and Angela “will drive hundreds of miles for the sole purpose of grabbing a single leg of a Multi-State geocache, or defy a blazing lava flow from Mount Kilauea. These cachers are always up for the challenge because they love this hobby. Life has thrown iphone.cachers more than their share of surprises. In September of 2011, Mr. iphone.cacher was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer, and has since been fighting a brave battle. This amazing pair and their family are an absolute inspiration. They have managed to seize every adventure and are not slowing down, despite life’s obstacles.”

Nominated by cornishcay, One-Y Lee, a.k.a. kinglee, “is someone who never stops contributing to the geocaching community to keep the spirit and passion alive, especially in Asia, where we do not have a very large community of geocachers. One-Y started geocaching in Singapore many years ago, and even after moving to Hong Kong, his commitment to introducing this wonderful hobby to many new friends and keeping it alive for existing geocachers is absolutely amazing. He has organized geocaching activities in different parts of Hong Kong almost every weekend. Now, most local geocachers need not worry what to do during their weekend. One-Y hasn’t stopped there. He also organized trips to nearby countries like Thailand, China, and Macau for geocachers who are so keen to add additional countries to their statistical map. He raised so much awareness about this hobby that he was even featured in the local newspaper.”

April Featured Geocachers of the Month, Milosheart

As one geocacher casting a vote put it, “the fun we have had is due to their laid back but encouraging way of introducing people to the sport.  They have held social gatherings as well educational events at their house where all are invited and made to feel at home. They have a lot of experience and knowledge to share and an easy way of going about it.  They are excellent organizers as shown by the overwhelming success of this year’s contest and banquet.  New people are joining the Fredericton club weekly (if not daily) due to their leadership.  I guess what I am trying to say is: They are excellent ambassadors of the sport.”
