The top ten geocaches added to Lists
From Favorite points to the number of Found It logs to being featured as the Geocache of the Week, there are a few ways to tell if a geocache is popular. Have you ever wondered though, which caches have earned the title of the most bookmarked (active) caches in the world? Here we share the top 10 and how you can add them to a List of your own.

1. Mingo (GC30)
Located in: Kansas, United States
Added to: 6,024 Lists
This is the oldest active geocache in the world, and the 7th geocache ever created. If you need to complete your Jasmer grid, this geocache is an absolute must. To complete the challenge, you must find a cache placed in every month since geocaching began in May 2000.

2. Geocache (GC40)
Located in: Namur, Belgium
Added to: 5,046 Lists
This geocache was placed on July 7, 2000— months before Geocaching.com even existed. The difficulty one, terrain one cache was logged for the first time nine days later.

3. Original Stash Tribute Plaque (GCGV0P)
Located in: Oregon, United States
Added to: 5,046 Lists
This is where it all began. On May 3, 2000, a five-gallon bucket was placed right at this very spot by Dave Ulmer. The original cache container was damaged but TEAM 360 and other concerned geocachers recognized the importance of the event that happened here and dedicate this Original Stash Tribute Plaque on behalf of cachers everywhere.

4. GC12 5/12/2000 (GC12)
Located in: Oregon, United States
Added to: 4,500 Lists
This is the twelfth cache ever hidden and therefore another favorite for anyone who is trying to complete the Jasmer Challenge. Before Ammo cans there were buckets, and this one still lives up to the tradition. If you can muster schlepping SWAG and trackables along the trail to the cache, it can hold a whole lot of it.

5. Geocaching Headquarters (GCK25B)
Located in: Washington, United States
Added to: 4,497 Lists
Geocaching HQ would be so excited and flattered if you came to find the Geocaching Headquarters geocache! Sign up for a hosted visit, stop by during drop-in hours, shop our store, and even collect a new souvenir for logging this one. And trackables? We got LOTS of trackables – take your pick!

6. Beverly (GC28)
Located in: Illinois, United States
Added to: 4,468 Lists
Another old timey geocache placed in May 2000 is going old school by leading you into the woods 40 miles outside Chicago. But this is no cache for city dwellers. Bring long pants, boots, compass and bug spray (per cache listing) and find your inner adventurer.

7. Europe’s First (GC43)
Located in: Leinster, Ireland
Added to: 4,251 Lists
In June of 2000 geocaching reached Europe in the form of a plastic container hidden along the Irish coastline. It was only one month after the first geocache in the world was placed in the U.S.

8. Geocache GCD (GCD)
Located in: Washington, United States
Added to: 4,034 Lists
The oldest still-existing cache with a three-digit GC code, placed on June 21, 2000. This cache also is the oldest active cache in Washington State and 15th-oldest in the world! You’ll have to work for your smiley though, as this Terrain 3.5 geocache requires a hike into the beautiful Cascade mountains to find!

9. The Spot (GC39)
Located in: New York, United States
Added to: 3,837 Lists
This is another one that made it on the Lists of many geocaching historians. Placed in May 2000, this geocache still houses its’ the original logbook (among others that have been added over time) and serves like a mini geocaching museum.

10. Lego – einer ist zuviel (GC13Y2Y)
Located in: Berlin, Germany
Added to: 3,823 Lists
The hunt for this cache requires a level of stealth as the bustling Berlin sidewalk is often crowded with muggles. Located at the entrance to the Legoland Discovery Center, don’t let the Difficulty 2.5, Terrain 1 rating trick you into thinking this is an easy find!
