Today, we release a new country/regional souvenir for Jersey. If you have found a geocache in Jersey, you automatically receive the souvenir on your profile.

Jersey is the largest of the Channel Islands, between England and France. It is known for its beaches, cliffside trails, and fantasy-inspiring castles. This steadfast nation is surrounded by crashing waves, and its beaches are sprinkled with picturesque lighthouses. Amazingly, it has one of the largest tidal ranges in the world, which changes the island’s landscape—almost doubling in size twice a day.

Jersey has a large number of Neolithic dolmen, or rocky tombs, and they are estimated to be from 6,000 years ago. They are large, grey formations that are silhouettes of modern structures. Today’s Geocache of the Week is much more recently constructed than these graves, but rich in history nonetheless. During World War II, Jersey’s coast became peppered with platforms, concrete bunkers and other relics of the war. Now preserved as historic places, these structures serve as lookout points and places of reflection. Our Geocache of the Week, GCVJWN, provides a tour of these memorable monuments and gives more context while providing a wonderful, multi-location expedition.

This isn’t a cliff-hanger! This five-stage Multi-Cache’s namesake is based on La Tour de Vinde, also known as the Noirmont Tower. This cache will bring you to plaques, memorials, and monuments as well as wonderful views of the sea. The site of the tower is accessible at low tide by foot, so be sure to pack tide schedules as well as reliable footwear.

Ferry on my wayward son! Here is a cacher pro-tip: The Granville – Jersey ferry is a great way to visit this island from France. An hour and a half after boarding, you will arrive in Jersey. There are also ferries that run to and from Guernsey for a Channel Islands geocaching tour. A perfect day trip.
