ПДРЦ “Сосна” — Geocache of the Week
A snow-covered trail leads the way to a clearing. A large ground covering sits untouched with a light dusting of pine needles. A soft swipe on the covering reveals the bright Official Geocaching logo. Would you dare explore further to find the geocache? This week’s Geocache of the Week takes geocachers to Latvia to find GC7E67W.
Curiosity takes over, and before long, the ground covering slides away, and a hole in the ground is revealed. How far down does it go? Where’s the geocache? After coming all this way, turning around and heading back is not an option. Thankfully a ladder guides geocachers down into the old military operations station. With a flashlight in hand, it’s time to find this geocache!

The air gets colder and darker as the slow descent into the hole engulfs each curious geocacher. The final rung of the ladder passes, and the touch of solid ground sounds louder than initially expected. Standing in inches of water, rain boots are a must. Now that the geocache is on the same level, it’s time to start searching! Even though the ground can be wet, the geocache will be nice and dry as its resting place is on a shelf.

Sitting perfectly on the shelf in front of the walkway is the geocache! Once the large container is open, you see tons of SWAG scattered around the plastic tupperware with the logbook inside. Inking the log with your name is a gratifying feeling. The cool air starts to get thicker; after swapping some swag, it’s time to climb back up.

The sun shines a little brighter with each rung, and before long, the ground cover slides back over the opening. You never know what you’ll find when geocaching, but what you do know is it will always be an adventure!
