Cache owner AnjaMagnuna certainly took these words to heart when designing this Letterbox Hybrid (GC5MZ6Y) hidden deep within Fes el-Bali, the old city of Fes, Morocco.

Your journey begins at Bab Boujloud, also known as the Blue Gates, a formidable entrance to the historic medina of Fes el-Bali, the largest medieval city and car-free urban area in the world. This enclave is home to the heart of Fes, bursting with colors, smells, and sights of the souks (markets) selling textiles, leather, copper, and other goods.

From here, you can put your phone back in your pocket; GPS doesn’t work well in the narrow streets and alleys of the city. Instead, follow the signal, quite literally, to find this cache. Using the photos provided by AnjaMagnuna, retrace the winding journey of Signal the Frog® through the city to find a hidden door, behind which lies the cache prize.

First, follow Signal down a main street and through a covered market. Recent logs mention that some of the landmarks featured in AnjaMagnuna’s photos have changed or no longer exist, but what’s a cache without a challenge, right? There are still plenty of clues in each photo to help you find your way through the maze-like streets.

Straight, left, right, right, left, are you feeling dizzy yet? It’s hard to believe the cache is only ten minutes from the Blue Gates. Geocachers who completed the journey praise this cache as an amazing homage to a vibrant city with a rich and deep culture.

Finally, the cache is located inside Dar Mehdi, a riad (guest house) tucked away in Fes el-Bali. If you’re lucky, you may just get to meet Omar, the friendly patron who will greet you with a smile and (if you’re even more lucky) offer you a cup of tea after your travels. Make sure to sign the log book, and drop some SWAG for the next adventurer to discover.
