Was ist die Adventure Lab App?

Die Geocaching Adventure Lab-App bietet Geocachern eine neue Möglichkeit, Lab-Caches zu finden und zu loggen.

Lab-Caches sind ein experimenteller Geocache-Typ, der oft bei Mega-Events zu finden ist. Diese Caches zählen zur allgemeinen Geocachingstatistik und der Gesamtfundzahl. Im Gegensatz zu anderen Cache-Arten braucht man für Lab Caches keinen Behälter und sie können auch in Gebäuden gefunden werden. Das erleichtert es Lab Cache-Gestaltern innovative Ideen zu entwickeln und neue Konzepte zu testen, um noch mehr Freude ins Spiel zu bringen.

Wir veröffentlichen die Adventure Lab-App via Soft-Launch und experimentieren mit neuen Technologien für Adventures.

Welche Vorteile bietet die Adventure Lab App?

• Medienreiches Storytelling – Wir fangen gerade erst an. Derzeit können Adventure Lab-Gestalter mit der App Videos, Bilder, und Text für jeden Standort einbetten. Wir erwarten in Zukunft noch mehr Möglichkeiten.
• Öffentliches Verzeichnis – Es zeigt alle öffentlich verfügbaren Adventures. Es ist kein QR-Code oder Link erforderlich, wenn es sich um ein öffentliches Adventure handelt.
• Standortüberprüfung – Lab Caches können nur von Suchern innerhalb einer vom Ersteller festgelegten Entfernung geloggt werden. Dies ist eine häufig nachgefragte Funktion von Lab Cache-Gestaltern, die das Schummeln durch Personen einschränken soll, die den Adventure-Standort nicht aktiv besuchen.
• Lineares Gameplay – Ersteller von Adventures können wählen, ob ihre Lab-Caches in einer bestimmten Reihenfolge gespielt werden sollen.

Was ist mit dem Webplayer und den GPX-Downloads passiert?

Ab dem 26. März 2019 wurden der Webplayer und die GPX-Downloads eingestellt. Die Adventure Lab-App gibt Adventure-Gestaltern die Freiheit, mit medienreichem Storytelling zu experimentieren. Es ermöglicht auch lineares Storytelling und erfordert, dass Finder sich am physischen Standort des Adventures befinden. Dies ist nicht kompatibel mit der Möglichkeit Standortdaten vorab auf ein GPS-Gerät herunterzuladen und zu speichern. Wir schauen nach Möglichkeiten, Koordinaten auf eine Art zu teilen, die die gewünschte Erfahrung der Ersteller nicht beeinträchtigt und die Standortanforderungen und lineares Storytelling berücksichtigt.

Wie lautet die neue Terminologie?

• Das Produkt, das umgangssprachlich als Adventures oder Labs bekannt war heißt jetzt Adventure Lab.
• Einzelne Lab-Caches sind jetzt Standorte in einem Adventure.

Wer experimentiert mit Adventure Labs?

Im Jahr 2019 erweiterte Geocaching HQ das Adventure Lab-Experiment weltweit. Eine ausgewählte Anzahl von Geocaching-Organisationen und 250 qualifizierte Geocacher erhielten die Chance, Adventures zu kreieren. Jede Person, die ein Adventure erstellt, muss sich an die Adventure Lab Richtlinien halten. Diese Adventures werden mindestens sechs Monate, möglicherweise länger, für die Community aktiv bleiben.

Bitte beachte, dass wir im Rahmen eines ersten Tests der Adventure Lab-Plattform 250 Teilnehmer auswählen. In Zukunft möchten wir Geocachern auch andere Möglichkeiten bieten, mit einzigartigen Cache-Typen zu experimentieren. Wenn du diesmal nicht ausgewählt wurdest – wir planen andere Gelegenheiten zu haben, bei denen du ausgewählt werden könntest.

Was sollten Adventure Lab-Gestalter wissen?

Adventure-Gestalter haben mehr Möglichkeiten das Adventure-Erlebnis zu erstellen. Sie sind in der Lage festzulegen, in welcher Reihenfolge das Adventure gespielt werden soll. Dies ermöglicht eine bessere Kontrolle der Spielerbewegungen, sowie mehr Möglichkeiten, eine Geschichte zu erzählen.

Adventure-Gestalter können ihre Adventure Labs als “Private”, “Public” oder “Off” listen.

• Public bedeutet, dass das Adventure im öffentlichen Inhaltsverzeichnis gelistet und für jeden zugänglich ist.
• Private bedeutet, dass das Adventure nicht im öffentlichen Inhaltsverzeichnis gelistet und nur mithilfe eines speziellen Codes zugänglich ist.
• Off bedeutet, dass das Adventure weder im öffentlichen Inhaltsverzeichnis gelistet, noch zugänglich ist.

Was kommt als nächstes für Adventure Lab?

Dies ist immer noch ein Experiment. Geocaching HQ hört auf das Feedback von Gestaltern und Spielern, und wird die App und den Builder mit neuen Technologien und Storytelling-Möglichkeiten aktualisieren. Suche in der Adventure-App nach neuen Erfahrungen in deiner Umgebung!

What is the Adventure Lab app?

The Geocaching Adventure Lab app is a new way for geocachers to find and log Lab Caches.

Lab Caches are an experimental geocache type often played at Mega-Events. These caches count towards your geocaching statistics and total finds. In contrast to other cache types, Lab Caches are not required to have a container and can also be located indoors. This allows Lab Cache owners to innovate and test new ideas to make geocaching even more fun!

We are soft launching the Adventure Lab app to the geocaching community, as we continue to experiment with new technologies for Adventures.

What advantages does the Adventure Lab app offer?

• Media-rich storytelling — We are just getting started with this. Currently, the app allows creators to embed videos, imagery, and text for each location. We expect more opportunities in the future.
• Public directory — View all publicly available Adventures. No need for a QR code or link, if it’s a public Adventure.
• Location validation — Lab Caches can only be logged by finders within a distance determined by the creator. This is an often requested feature from creators who wish to limit cheating by people who do not actively visit the Adventure locations.
• Linear gameplay — Adventure creators may choose for their Lab Caches to be played in a specific order, allowing for more creative storytelling.

Translations: The app supports localization in 29 languages.

What happened to the web player and GPX downloads?

As of March 26, 2019, the web player and GPX downloads have been retired. The Adventure Lab app gives Adventure creators the freedom to experiment with media-rich storytelling. It also allows for linear storytelling and requires finders to log at the physical location. These features are incompatible with the option to download and store location details in advance to a GPS device. We are still exploring ways to share coordinates using methods that do not detract from the creator’s desired experience and would respect location requirements and linear storytelling.

What is the new terminology?

• The product colloquially known as Adventures or Labs is now Adventure Lab.
• Individual Lab Caches are now Locations in an Adventure

What should Adventure Lab creators/builders know?

Adventure creators have more options to build the Adventure experience. They can define the order in which the Adventure is played, allowing for more storytelling options and control of player movements through space.

Adventure creators can set their Adventure Lab to Public, Private, or Off.

• Public means that the Adventure will be listed in the public directory and is accessible by everyone.
• Private means that the Adventure will not be publicly listed, and can only be accessed by finders with a specific code.
• Off means that the Adventure will not be listed in the public directory and cannot be accessed.

What is next for Adventure Lab?

This is still an experiment. Geocaching HQ is listening to feedback from creators and finders and will continue to update the app and builder with new technology and storytelling opportunities. Keep checking the Adventure app for new experiences in your area!
