How Geocaching Works

Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions in our disclaimer.

Geocache Description:

Cache is NOT at posted coords.

This is one of the entrances to the Nottingcook Trail system in Bow.

Might not be the one you want to use, but an entrance.

SWAG: The starting swag are some pens that you can hook onto whatever you want them to hook to. I have mine hooked right to my GPSr. Please take one per customer so others can have one too. Thanks.

THE SOLUTION

This will bring you to the first waypoint. Here you will find how to complete your quest to your First Class Rank. (Look for a white laminated card.)

N = 4 3 0 (B+F) (E+1) (C-1) (D+A)

W = 0 7 1 3 (C-F) (A+E) (BxC) (D+A)

You can check your answers for WP "ONE" for this puzzle on
Geo-Scout Checker.
For the Final you will have to do that in the field.
Make sure you are PREPARED.

CACHE LOGGING REQUIREMENTS

To log this cache you will need to complete the following requirements first.
Please add the dates that you found the necessary caches.
(or the date that you had it published)

(I do not have control of caches that I do not own. Therefore if a cache that is required is "Temporarily Disabled" for a total of seven [7] days or more please let me know and I will not let that requirement stop you from proceeding. I do however wish you do end up finding that cache because the caches I have selected of these requirements are worth finding.)

  1. Find "GEO-SCOUTS – SECOND CLASS" and get the advancement code to solve the coordinates for this cache. AB-CD-EF
  2. To demonstrate how to find your way during the night without using a compass find A Midsummer Night's Dream(now archived)or Ghost Train Night Train
  3. To make sure you are Prepared for any mishaps while you are caching, Find the First Aid Merit Badge Cache.
  4. Go on a hike to see a Fire Tower. Find any ONE cache that qualifies for the NH Fire Tower Geocache Quest .
  5. Knots and Lashings are very important to a Geo-Scout.
Find WHY KNOT an excellent cache created by the Scouts of Troop 80 in Epsom NH.
  6. To prove you know how to handle yourself in or on water, find a cache that you accessed from a watercraft or by swimming to. (Walking to an island on the frozen lake/pond is acceptable)
  7. OPTIONAL - Tell your best story about trying to convert a muggle into a cacher. Or how you got converted. Which ever is better, funnier, stranger. (See where I'm going here??)

(Don't forget to get the Advancement code for STAR)

You might want to check out GEO SCOUTS - OA - ORDEAL as well.

GEO-SCOUT REQUIREMENTS

Now that we are advancing higher in the ranks we will be focusing on more of the requirements. Second Class and First Class ranks are vital in the building of a Good Geo-Scout, here you will learn and be tested on the basic skills to become a True Geo-Scout.

Sir Robert Baden-Powell (the one responsible for the creation of the Scouting Movement in 1907) refers to a Scout not being a true Scout until he is First Class.

THE SERIES
Our family has been involved in Scouting since 1997. This series is a mix of Scouting and Caching.
You MUST earn each rank in order, so that is why all of the other caches in the series will be Mystery caches.
The series will be open to all Premier Members only. This will reflect the “Dues” the Scouts contribute to the program.
You will need to gather the "Advancement Clue" in the cache to help solve the next one and so on.
Look inside the cover of the log book for the Advancement Clue for the next cache. As you progress, just like in scouting, the ranks will get more involved to earn.
We will not be focusing on all of the BSA requirements for the caches, BUT we will be focusing on some of them to "EARN" your
GEO-RANK.
