Important Updates to Geocaching HQ’s Policies

We are updating our Privacy Policy to give you more control over how we use your personal data. This is part of our ongoing commitment to be transparent about how we use your data and keep it safe. We have also included changes to address the new standards introduced by the European data protection law known as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

We encourage you to read the updated Privacy Policy. Here are some of the highlights of what’s changing:

  • Transparency: We’ve provided additional details about the information we collect and how we use that information. We’ve also explained your choices and the control you have over your information.
  • GDPR: On May 25, 2018, a new European Union (EU) data protection law, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), takes effect. The GDPR gives individuals in the EU more control over how their data is used and places certain obligations on businesses that process information of those individuals. We’ve updated our Privacy Policy and our processes to take into account the new requirements of the GDPR.
  • Functionality: We have added delete functionality to the Geocaching Forums to allow you to delete your posts. We have also added the ability to opt-out of sharing your publicly available Geocaching profile on Authorized Developer’s geocaching-related sites/applications.

These changes will take effect for existing users of our services on May 23, 2018. By continuing to use our services on or after May 23, 2018, you acknowledge and agree to our updated Privacy Policy and Terms of Use. Feel free to contact https://www.geocaching.com/help/  if you have any questions. We hope these updates demonstrate our ongoing commitment to protecting your privacy and respecting your data.

Thank you for being a part of the Geocaching community.
