South Downs GeoTour (GT58)
The South Downs GeoTour is sunsetting, or ending, and our caches are ready to make their way over the horizon on March 31, 2021. That means there are just over three months left to bag yourself one, two, or even three of our gorgeous South Downs GeoTour Geocoins (bronze, silver, and gold).
An hour outside of London and running along the top of a steep chalk cliff is the 100-mile National Trail. Eight of the GeoTour caches are hidden on, or very near, the South Downs Way, which has been walked by humans for 5,000 years! Be a part of history while exploring golden hills, wooded heaths, and iconic cliffs. These elements combine to give some of the most majestic views you’ll find anywhere in the United Kingdom.
There are four levels on the South Downs GeoTour, so you get to decide the intensity of your adventure. To complete the full tour and earn your digital souvenir will take some expert planning and a few long days to find all 40 caches.
You can even earn an actual geocoin while doing this GeoTour. The coin depends on the level that you complete. Each level increases with every ten geocaches you find on the Tour with a maximum of all 40 caches! Trust us, the awe-inspiring views of the South Downs will make it all worthwhile, regardless your find count.
Bird, butterfly, and wildflower enthusiasts will be delighted on this GeoTour. Teeming with rare chalk grassland species, the South Downs might provide you with a glimpse of a water vole or a curious otter. History lovers will also never be stuck for things to do in the South Downs. With viking burial mounds, the home of Jane Austen, and other beautiful stately homes, any history-loving heart will be warmed. Remember the famous white cliffs of England seen in so many Hollywood movies? That’s Seven Sisters Country Park, the gem of the National Park. This place truly has something for everyone!
