One of the upcoming features is something that has been asked for by the geocaching community: a new and improved Advanced Search. It’s been completely retooled, revamped and streamlined based on geocaching community feedback. Now you’ll be able to find the exact adventure you want, easier.
Make sure you’re subscribed to the Geocaching Tips and Tricks emails to receive your invite to test this new tool. If you’re not sure, visit your Email Preferences and make sure the box next to “Tips and Tricks” is checked. The Geocaching Premium member sneak peek invite email is scheduled to be sent to you on or before this Thursday, January 29.

CITO weekend will be here before you know it. In case you haven’t heard, CITO stands for Cache In Trash Out. It’s the geocacher’s approach to keeping our game board (i.e. the entire planet) in great shape. On the weekend of April 24 – April 27, geocachers around the globe will gather together, pick up trash, remove invasive species, repair trails and more—plus earn a pretty sweet new souvenir.
Pick up a CITO Event Kit from Shop Geocaching and start planning your CITO weekend event now. All events must be submitted at least two weeks prior to the event date—but earlier is always better. Check out the CITO FAQ to learn more. You can also see a list of CITO events already happening around you.

Das CITO-Wochenende ist schneller da, als Du denkst. Falls Du noch nicht davon gehört haben solltest: CITO steht für “Cache In Trash Out“. Es stellt den Versuch der Geocacher dar, unser Spielfeld (d. h. den gesamten Planeten) in einem sauberen Zustand zu erhalten. Am Wochenende 25. und 26. April treffen sich weltweit Geocacher und sammeln Müll auf, entfernen ins heimische Ökosystem eingeschleppte Arten, reparieren Wege und vieles mehr – und erhalten dafür ein schickes neues Souvenir.
There’s no denying the fact that the best cure for the wintertime blues are summer and breakfast foods—more specifically, pancakes. Conveniently, the entire Southern Hemisphere is enjoying their summer right now and this EarthCache will bring you to some of Mother Nature’s own pancakes—just don’t try to eat them. When you earn a smiley for this EarthCache, you’ll not only get to take in some breathtaking views, you’ll also learn an Earth-science lesson.
Did you know that EarthCaches are a joint effort between the Geological Society of America, Geocaching.com and other partners? All EarthCaches are reviewed by the EarthCache team. Some geocachers have proposed geocache types similar to EarthCaches for history or some other subject. For that to be a reality, we encourage you to find credible, independent organizations and partners who would be willing to administer the program.
