You’ve heard the story of Atlantis, a legendary city engulfed by the waves, never again to emerge. But you might not know of another submerged city, Curon, located near the Austrian border in Italy. Submerged in 1950, the town exists now only in the memories of its former inhabitants, and as one lone church steeple emerging defiantly from the water. You can pay homage to the sunken metropolis (no scuba gear required) when you find Der Turm – La Torre, our Geocache of the Week. Continue reading →

Fitness is an essential part of life. For some it’s running, cycling, climbing, or going to the gym; for others it’s geocaching. One cache owner (TCapitano) has added a component to their geocache that requires some movement on your behalf. Maybe we spoke too soon, don’t worry the cache owner is no cycle-path: the cache is geared towards fun not the Tour de France.

This crowd favorite has garnered over 2,600 Finds since 2015 in Hessen, Germany. Of the geocachers who have found the magnificent geocache, 89% of them gave a Favorite point, making it one of the highest Favorited caches in the world.

You’ve perfected your urban caching and have conquered every local park. You left no stone unturned, no tree unclimbed, and no micro unfound.

Sitting on a bench, staring into the setting sun, you ponder what new geocaching opportunities might be out there. That’s when it hits you, an email notification for a cache you’ve never found. It speaks of a cave of horses and a treasure needing your signature to claim.

The best geocachers know the best ways to level up their GC game: collect all golden coins per level, risk it all running after 1-Up mushrooms, and harness the fireball power of Fire Flowers.

Wait, what? This is advice for a different game? Two games collide for a SUPER-crossover that will have you saying ‘Mamma mia, that’s-a one cool container’ for this Geocache of the Week!

Rough-sketched blueprints and the pixelated Mario and the relevant sections cut out as patterns for the different layers.
