Do you remember?
Do you remember the first time you fell in love with geocaching? Or the time you found your first geocache? For many, those memories still inspire a passion for geocaching and the world around us.
Earlier this year, we asked geocachers to share their memories from the past 20 years of geocaching and their vision for the next 20. We loved reading all of the inspiring comments. At Geocaching HQ, we hope everyone has at least one memorable geocaching experience that they can cherish. After all, it’s these life-changing memories that will inspire the next generation of adventure seekers! Below, several lackeys (employees of Geocaching HQ) share their favorite geocaching memories.
“Arriving at the base of a tree in Germany and realizing the cache was 20 meters above me. With experienced cachers alongside, I logged my first tree climb geocache!” ~Tom (viatru)
“Training for six months for the two day technical climb up Mt. Rainier for the EarthCache on top. My summit day started at midnight and included watching the sunrise from about 13,000 feet and crossing a 20 feet long crevasse on a ladder!” ~Annie (Love) Fun fact: the photo at the top is Annie climbing Mount Rainier!
“Completing the HQ GeoTour. I got to explore a neighborhood I’d known for years, but with a new, playful perspective. What an exciting journey ahead!” ~ Kelli (ktaylor211)
“A nice walk in the park to find a cache at the waterfront of Lake Washington and leaving not only with a find but also “trading” a girlfriend for a fiancée.” ~Sven (Bl4ckH4wkGER)
“Solo caching in the outskirts of Salt lake City in Utah, and as I am approaching ground zero I notice what looks like a cat in the brush near the cache. Only to realize that it is not a cat with a big bushy tail but a skunk, I quickly and quietly retreated before it realized I was there. I left that cache for another day!” ~Jeff (gearguru)
