Kibale National Park is located in Western Uganda, in the African Great Lakes region. It contains thirteen unique species of primate, making it home to one of the highest concentrations of primates in all of Africa. Species include chimpanzees, red colobus monkeys, and L’Hoest’s monkeys

It is also host to a wide variety of conservation and research projects. The area’s rangers and researchers monitor and protect the chimpanzees and other primates that call Kibale home, as well as investigate Kibale’s unique ecosystem. They also take care of another rare specimen, our Geocache of the Week, Kibale National Park, Uganda.

You’ve heard the story of Atlantis, a legendary city engulfed by the waves, never again to emerge. But you might not know of another submerged city, Curon, located near the Austrian border in Italy. Submerged in 1950, the town exists now only in the memories of its former inhabitants, and as one lone church steeple emerging defiantly from the water. You can pay homage to the sunken metropolis (no scuba gear required) when you find Der Turm – La Torre, our Geocache of the Week. Continue reading →

“One cache, much blessed in Favourite points                                                                        in Kronborg where we lay our scene…”

Built in the 1400s by King Eric VII, Kronborg castle is perhaps best known by another name: Elsinore, the haunted castle of Shakespeare’s ill-fated Prince Hamlet. Though Shakespeare himself never visited Elsinore’s real life inspiration (what can we say, we just didn’t have efficient, intercontinental transportation options in the Renaissance!), you certainly canand find a geocache while you’re at it: Kronborg Slot, our Geocache of the Week.

Costa Rica is often said to be one of the happiest countries in the world. Known for their outstanding democracy and quality of life, Costa Ricans are often said to live the Pura Vida, literally “pure life.”

Though it might be a tiny country, it has a mighty amount of flora and fauna. It represents about 5 percent of the world’s biodiversity. The Monteverde cloud forest alone hosts over 100 species of mammals, 400 species of birds, 2,500 species of plants—and of course, one Geocache of the Week!

It’s easy to see how our Geocache of the Week earned its name! Image by goldeneagles.
