GeoTours Deliver Geocaching Adventure Around the Globe

In the time-honored geocaching tradition, it’s a map that helps tell the story. Check out the blue pins scattered across the world on the Geocaching GeoTours map. Each marker is a GeoTour location. Each GeoTour is a chance to explore a unique destination as only geocaching can unveil it. Local experts in each destination pick out the best places to hide new geocaches, including historic sites, parks, cities and more.

Nearly 40 GeoTours offer geocachers custom-crafted adventures in locations like the Islands of BermudaNew Caledonia or the Hochkönig region in Austria. And if you’re interested in a driving tour of North America, more than two dozen GeoTours provide unforgettable experiences.

Where will geocaching take you this year? Let us know in comments below.

Explore the Eugene, Cascades & Coast GeoTour

Geocoin Explore more than 70 new geocaches from Oregon’s Coast to the waterfalls and lava fields of the Cascades on the Eugene Cascades & Coast GeoTour. Geocachers that complete the entire trip will earn two unique, locally made Geocoins that fit together like puzzle pieces.

Launched in October 2012, the McKenzie River Edition of the GeoTour winds along the lush wilderness of the McKenzie River. From old growth forests to secret gardens, this is a geocaching experience you don’t want to miss. Just ask the geocachers.

Kathryn, of Portland, was one of the first finishers. “The cache placements took us to new sights, trails, parks, all the reasons why I love caching so much,” raved Kathryn. “I really feel the tour was very well rounded and had something for everyone.”

The Florence Edition of the GeoTour launches March 9, 2013 at Driftwood Shores. This exciting new addition to the Eugene, Cascades & Coast GeoTour starts on the never ending beaches of the Central Oregon Coast, then takes geocachers to little-known hiking trails and favorite Old Town Florence gems. The more than 30 geocaches are worth every stop.

Geocaching.com Presents: Finding a Trackable – What to Do?

Watch this video to show you what to do when you encounter Geocaching.com Trackables in a geocache. Learn the two options you can choose from to help make the most of a Trackable’s journey. Trackables add an exciting dimension of world exploration to the hobby. Each Trackable has a unique code that allows its movements to be tracked on Geocaching.com. The Trackable’s owner can drop it in a cache and then watch as geocachers help the Trackable wander the globe by moving it from cache to cache. Most Trackables are assigned goals that direct them to specific areas.

Shop Geocaching April 2012 Newsletter

Cachin’s the Fashion!

We like a good joke here at Groundspeak and we were excited to present a fun video to help enhance your April Fool’s Day this year.  In doing so, our production artist Roxxy came up with what we think is an awesome t-shirt design.  We think all of you will love the design as much as we do, so we’ve added the new ‘Cachin’s the Fashion’ design in the shop.  Order yours today! (US only – See International Distributors here)

Make your own trackables!

Have you considered making your own trackable geocoins or other unique trackables?  We work with a number of manufacturers that can help you through the entire process of creating your own trackable geocoins or tags.  You also have the option of ordering tracking codes directly from Groundspeak for unique projects such as a personal swag item that you already leave in geocaches.  To learn more about the process or to see pricing and minimums, please check out our tracking code policy.  If you’re working on a smaller project that doesn’t meet our minimum order requirements, consider purchasing a Travel Bug and adding the unique tracking code onto the item you want to make trackable (just remember not to send out the tags as well to avoid confusion in the game).

Cache In Trash Out (CITO)

Just a reminder that the official CITO weekend is coming up soon!  We have a variety of official CITO merchandise including trackables and trash bags that can help enhance any CITO event!   The 10th annual Cache In Trash Out weekend will be held April 21st and 22nd.  View the CITO event calendar to see what events will be in your area!  Starting in mid-April, the free sticker of the month will feature the CITO logo.  One sticker is included for free with every order (while supplies last).

What’s New!

As usual, we’re always busy adding new items to the shop to keep the selection fresh.  This past month has seen the addition of several new trackables.  These include the first five in a series of trackable State Medallions (Washington, Oregon, Kansas, Illinois and California).  A fun Treasure Hunt board game, new Farmtagz and the GeoSoftie Signal Travel Tags have all been added to the mix.  Check these out and more in our What’s New section!

T-Shirt and Sticker of the Month!

We like to keep our selection fresh at Shop Geocaching.  In order to do so, we’re implementing two exciting new programs.  First, if you’ve ordered in the last few weeks you may have noticed a little something extra with your order.  Each month, we’re going to release a new sticker that will be included free of charge with your order (while supplies last, of course).  Secondly, our creative team is working on some fun new designs for our new T-Shirt of the Month program.  Starting in March, we’ll be releasing a new design every month.  Like the stickers, these will only be available until supplies last.  If you think you have some brilliant ideas for shirt or sticker designs, please let us know!

What’s New!

This month, we’ve brought in several new items. Included are three versions of Maxpedition Packs – popular already with the caching community, these packs are perfect for carrying your caching essentials! Fun new shirts including our Challenges and Hamster Coffee Break designs have been added.  Also, check for the new versions of our Decon Cache Containers and the devious Fake Bolt Cache Container! See these items and more in our “What’s New” section!
