Did you know that on the borders of Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina there is an underground airport built into a mountain? While not in use for its original purposes anymore, the airbase serves as a police training facility, has been used to protect asylum seekers traveling through the area, and is free to explore. Remnants of the airbase remain intact and a former plane like this one creates a tricky spot for our Geocache of the Week: Zeljava Airfield (GC5822P).

“Seeing a spider isn’t a problem, it becomes a problem when it disappears…” -Unknown

Geocaching takes us to incredible places, helps us tackle challenges we once thought were out of reach, and sometimes even forces us to face our fears. For those of us with a fear of spiders, this geocaching gem can help you overcome your arachnophobia with a cache bearing the same name!

This week, we’re headed to Nevada’s state capital to revisit GC2XHEQ, a cache we featured back in 2014. Nestled only a few miles east of world-famous Lake Tahoe, Carson City’s historic downtown invites you to learn about the history of the region, and collect a few finds in a picturesque setting close to the heart of government in the Silver State.

Geocaching has a way of leading us on new adventures to undiscovered locations and views. We have decided to revisit some Geocaches of the Week to show off some of our favorite caches.

This week we’re traveling to Norway to revisit Kjerag (GCXKXJ), a geocache we featured almost seven years ago. The coordinates are on top of Kjerag, a mountain in the Sandnes municipality.
