5 reasons to keep geocaching as the seasons change

When you think of geocaching, two options often come to mind: a summer activity or something to do while traveling…in summer. Both of those are great choices, but before you prepare to pack away your TOTT (tools of the trade), have you considered caching in the shoulder season?

Shoulder season is the time between the summer and winter seasons (or winter and summer for all you southern hemisphere folks!) Spring and fall may have a bit less predictability, but one thing is certain: there are fewer people on the trails. Watch the trailer for GIFF 2018

There are now 345 GIFF (Geocaching International Film Festival) Events (and counting!) in 36 countries featuring 16 films. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you’ll earn a smiley, and the GIFF 2018 souvenir!

GIFF 2018 is November 8 – 12, 2018. Are you ready? Find a GIFF event near you and log your Will Attend! No events nearby? Try hosting! Just be sure to submit your events by October 25, 2018 so it has time to be published on Geocaching.com!

You might be a Caching Connoisseur if…

There are no LPC (lamp-post caches), guardrails, or PnG’s (Park and Grabs) for you! You’re all about creativity, the higher the Favorite points the better, and like a fine wine these quality caches have stood the test of time.

To earn the Caching Connoisseur souvenir, earn 60 points on your Friend League starting October 1 at noon UTC through October 29 at noon UTC. This month, earn higher points for finding geocaches with 10 or more Favorite points. A true connoisseur could achieve this score by finding four great caches. How many will it take you?
