Today, we release a new country/regional souvenir for the Åland Islands! If you have found a geocache in the Åland Islands, you automatically receive the souvenir on your profile.

The Åland Islands is a sweeping archipelago perched in the Baltic Sea. Finland’s smallest (and only Swedish speaking!) region, this island province is comprised of one large island, Fasta Åland, and over 6,500 skerries.

Since skerries are small, rocky islands, generally too small or harsh to be populated, most caches are placed on Fasta Åland, and among them is Sjökvarteret, our Geocache of the Week!

In busy urban areas, such as Hanoi, you will find ancient temples next to chic rooftop bars, while the farmers in the Mekong and Red River deltas follow the rhythm of their harvest.

Nestled on the eastern side of the Mediterranean Sea, Israel hosts a myriad of things to do for everyone. Foodies and market-goers may lose themselves in Tel Aviv’s Carmel Market, where all of your senses can be tapped into; the sounds of the crowds perusing the soft fabric of the eclectic designer clothing; the mouth-watering aroma of foods and spices that tap into your desires to inspire you to try something new; and the vibrant array of colorful patterns everywhere you look. 

Explorers who find themselves away from the hustle and bustle of the cities have several options. Float in the Dead Sea at the lowest point on earth.Hike through the breathtaking canyons of Ein Avdat National Park, and soak in the natural springs in the Negev Desert, or smell the blossoming anemone flowers in the Shokeda Forest (featured in the souvenir image).  

Lastly, for museum lovers, Israel has the most museums per capita in the entire world. The museums receive millions of visitors annually, and exhibits span from archaeology to local history.

Today we release a new country/regional souvenir for Egypt! If you have found a geocache in Egypt, you automatically receive the souvenir on your profile.

Along the shores of the Red Sea, about 500 kilometers (300 miles) southeast of Cairo, you will find Soma Bay, a sunny beach area full of activities such as sailing, windsurfing, snorkeling, and scuba diving.

For thousands of years, dangerous currents, strong winds, and a myriad of reefs have made this area difficult for sailors to navigate—which is why you will find several shipwrecks below the tranquil surface of the warm water (23°C/74°F). Many wrecks have become an oasis for aquatic life, but this one is especially amazing. It’s our Geocache of the Week.
