2020 Geocaching HQ souvenir moments
Two whole decades of geocaching?! Wow, time sure does fly when you’re having fun. The announcement of the 2020 Anniversary Celebration is only just the beginning! There are already over 20 opportunities to earn new souvenirs next year, with the first opportunity on January 1, 2020!
Additionally, we will run several souvenir challenges in the coming year (similar to Cache Carnival and Mystery at the Museum) that we’re not quite ready to announce yet. We also have a few more special surprises up our sleeves for celebrating the 20th anniversary of geocaching, too. Hello 2020: January 1, 2020
Start the 20th year of geocaching off right! Attend an Event or find a geocache to earn the Hello 2020 souvenir.
Fun in all directions: February 2, 2020
Forward, backward, inside and out! With over 3 million geocaches worldwide, geocaching is fun in all directions. That’s why we’re celebrating 02.02.2020, an international palindrome date, with a new souvenir!
Leap Day: February 29, 2020
The last Leap Day was four years ago in 2016 and we’ve been anxiously awaiting it’s return in 2020. Just think of it as a bonus day for geocaching! Mark your calendars for this extra-special day!
Cache In Trash Out®, Season 1: March 1 through August 31, 2020
You’ll be able to earn one CITO 2020 Season 1 souvenir by attending or hosting a CITO from March 1 through August 31, 2020. But, of course, you can attend or host many more throughout the year!
Blue Switch Day: May 2, 2020
Kick off the celebration of 20 years of geocaching with a Big Blue Switch souvenir! Find any geocache or attend any event on Saturday, May 2, and you’ll earn a new digital souvenir for your geocaching profile!
Community Celebration Events: May 2 2020 through December 31, 2021
Entering into 20 years of geocaching we want to celebrate what’s most important: The community creating the game! These events will enable cachers around the world to commemorate the 20th anniversary of geocaching with a new icon and souvenir.
International Geocaching Day: Saturday, August 15, 2020
Celebrate geocaching! Log any geocache or attend an event on Saturday, August 15, 2020, and earn the International Geocaching Day souvenir.
Cache In Trash Out®, Season 2: September 1 through November 30, 2020
Also known as Cache In Trash Out®, the Sequel. Just like CITO 2020 Season 1, you’ll earn a separate CITO 2020 Season 2 souvenir by attending or hosting any CITO during September, October, or November 2020.
International EarthCache Day: October 10 through October 11, 2020
Get ready to rock this entire weekend. Find and log any EarthCache to earn the International EarthCache Day souvenir.
Farewell 2020 / Welcome 2021: December 31, 2020 and January 1, 2021
Geocachers love to celebrate a year of good caching and toast a year of great caching to come! Find any geocache or attend an event on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day to earn these souvenirs.

New country and regional souvenirs: January through December 2020
We know geocachers love country and regional souvenirs and we do too! This year we will continue to announce one new country or regional souvenir per month, starting in January. The new country and regional souvenirs will be featured alongside Geocaches of the Week in each region and shared on the third Wednesday of each month on the Geocaching Blog.
