For many of us, 2021 ended up looking very similar to 2020, as we still had many challenges to overcome and more obstacles to face. Geocaching allows us the time to slow down and appreciate the natural beauty that surrounds us. We were given a unique opportunity to take a deep breath and escape into the outdoors for a much-needed reset. For many of us, we may never have had the chance to spend so much time outside exploring, but we hope we can maintain it for the future. Geocaching is the perfect outlet for all who opt outside.

You may have heard your geocaching pals crack jokes about how a particular cache made them feel like Indiana Jones, James Bond, or some other heroic adventurer—but this Geocache of the Week in Thailand gives that concept a whole new meaning.
GC2179V Ko Tapu – James Bond Island isn’t trying to fool you with its name. The scene of this EarthCache, Ko Tapu, is a dramatic, rocky islet that sits in Phang-Nga Bay, Thailand, and was one of the backdrops featured in 1974’s The Man with the Golden Gun. The Bond film is such a tourist attraction that the island across from Ko Tapu has been unofficially renamed—as the sign shows below, Khao Phing Kan is now ‘James Bond Island.’

Geocaching, tennis, and community building—Interview with Arnokovic
Sometimes we start amazing journeys without realizing it until after the fact. That’s exactly what happened to Arnokovic, a community volunteer translator and prolific geocache hider hailing from the north of France, when he found his first cache with a coworker back in 2009.
Since then, he has found over 50,000 caches and has hidden 168 of his own, including GC5552H (Eiffel Power, France’s most-Favorited geocache of all time). We sat down with Arnokovic himself to discuss his experiences geocaching, what it’s like to serve as a volunteer translator, and the various ways in which geocaching has come to impact his life.
