How to organize a great Dönerstag event

En 2017, celebramos el geocaching alrededor del mundo y como Signal se prepara para visitar Alemania para el Dönerstag, vamos a compartir una guía de como organizar un impresionante evento Dönerstag!

El año pasado hubo más de 35.000 eventos de geocaching en el mundo. Los enventos son una oportunidad para conocer compañeros geocachers, intercambiar rastreables, aprender más sobre el juego, compartir experiencias y divertirse. Continúa leyendo para aprender cómo celebrar un evento Dönerstag estés donde estés.

Sé creativo

Los Döner kebabs, hechos tradicionalmente de carne asada cocinada en un asador vertical, se hicieron populares en Alemania en los años 80. ¡Sin embargo, no tienes que estar en Alemania para disfrutar de un Döner kebab!

El kebab se conoce por muchos nombres, como shawarma o gyros, y varía de una región a otra. ¡Echa un vistazo a esta lista de platos similares en el mundo!

Hazlo divertido

Música, juegos y premios, ¡madre mía! ¡Preparar unas cuantas actividades con antelación es una excelente manera de romper el hielo y mantener a los asistentes divirtiéndose!  ¡Hemos reunido unas pocas ideas para convertir tu evento Dönerstag en un éxito internacional!

  • Sintoniza música alemana; después de todo, Dönerstag es una fiesta de geocaching alemana.
  • No uses tu libro de registro habitual: crea un libro de registro con la forma de un kebab o como su envoltura de papel rayado.
  • Las etiquetas con nombre son ideales para cualquier evento, pero haz un juego para que los asistentes intenten hacer coincidir el nombre de usuario con la persona. ¡Nunca se sabe cuántas historias hay detrás de un nombre!
  • Hay variantes del kebab por todo el mundo. ¡Haz una manualidad creando un tablero de “poner la cola al Kebab”!
  • ¡Todo el mundo adora los premios!. ¡Concede premios al mejor disfraz, o haz algo sencillo como una rifa entre todos los asistentes!
  • ¿Quieres aderezar las cosas?. Un concurso de salsa Döner picante puede ser justamente lo que estás buscando. Cuidado: ¡Juega a ésto bajo tu propia responsabilidad!

No te olvides

Puedes organizar eventos en cualquier lugar disponible al público — como un restaurante o un parque. Pero asegúrate de encontrar un lugar con espacio suficiente y de que el local sepa de la asistencia.

Los eventos de geocaching se deben presentar al menos dos semanas antes de la fecha del evento. Envía a revisar tu evento Dönerstag no mas tarde del 30 de marzo de 2017. Una vez que el evento ha sido publicado, comparte la ficha del evento con tu organización local de geocaching y en las redes sociales.

Calling all filmmakers! Submit your film to GIFF 2017.

GIFF gnomesThe Geocaching International Film Festival is returning for another year of epic geocaching moments captured on camera.

If you’re a filmmaker, a geocacher, or something in between, GIFF 2017 is your chance to have your geocaching film viewed by thousands of people on movie screens all over the world. Submissions are now open!

How the festival works

Films are submitted to Geocaching HQ by August 1, 2017. Throughout August, the films will go through various rounds of viewing by a panel of judges from Geocaching HQ. In September the finalist films will be announced. The filmmakers will be notified, and the film titles made public. Geocachers who are hosting GIFF events will receive a single film reel compilation of all the finalists. From November 2-6, 2017, the GIFF film reel will be shown at GIFF events hosted by geocachers all over the world. In 2016, there were 526 events hosted in 44 countries, and 15,543 geocachers attended.

  1. Read the rules. Seriously, read them!
  2. Read the tips for filming.
  3. Upload your geocaching film to Vimeo.
  4. Fill out the submission form and submit by August 1, 2017.
this year’s theme: the art of geocaching

There’s no arguing that geocaching is an art, as much as it is a game. In designing a creative container, writing a memorable log, or going to great lengths to reach a cache, we express ourselves every time we play. This year, your challenge as a filmmaker is to show us how you turn geocaching into a form of art. And remember, your film can be fiction or documentary style.

3 razones para empezar a escribir buenos registros

Estás haciendo geocaching en racha, consiguiendo sonrisas a diestro y siniestro. Con tantos encontrados acumulándose, es tentador escribir un GPEC y dejarlo así…

Antes de que lo hagas, permítenos la oportunidad de convencerte de lo contrario.

3 razones por las que escribir un buen registro merece la pena:

1: Puedes alegrar el día al propietario del caché.
Si, los propietarios de los cachés leen tus registros. Asegúrate de agradecérselo sinceramente.

2: Los registros meditados ayudan a los futuros buscadores.
¿Han cambiado las condiciones de la zona? ¿Crees que la dificultad del caché fue superior a lo que indica la ficha?. Los geocachers agradecerán la información (Pero ten cuidado con dejar spoilers).

3: Graba un momento digno de ser contado.
Los registros son como un diario de geocaching, ayudándote a recordar los grandes momentos — y los desternillantes.

La app de Geocaching® ahora dispone de borradores. Los borradores te permiten empezar a escribir un registro sobre la marcha en la app de Geocaching® y terminarlo más tarde en la app o en Geocaching.com. Esta función se conocía anteriormente como Notas de Campo.

And the winner is…

The geocaching community has spoken. The Mission 9: Tunnel of Light APE cache will be returned to its original location and restored to active APE cache status. Once reactivated, the cache will be loggable throughout the year.

We will reactivate the APE cache on August 19, 2017, the date of the Going Ape 2017 Mega-Event at Washington’s Iron Horse State Park.

More than 10,000 geocachers helped make this decision. (Read the February 20th blog for more about the ballot choices.) Here are the results:

61% — Return and Reactivate

17% — Activate Once A Year

13% — Display at Geocaching HQ

9% — Traveling Artifact

Many of you argued passionately on all sides of this issue. In the end, the consensus from the community was clear.

We understand people around the world are eager for more details. In the coming weeks, Geocaching HQ will work closely with the Washington State Geocaching Association (organizer of the Going Ape Mega-Event) and we will keep you updated as plans are made.

Thanks to everyone who took part in the process. From the Seattle-area cachers who rediscovered the long lost APE cache to the thousands who helped write its next chapter!
